He said his first word "ba ba" (our word for bottle). He also said ma ma, but he does not know what that represents.

Holding bottle and the three legged crawl

Today Daniel held his bottle by himslef for about three seconds. He also has a three legged crawl/scott going on. He uses both his legs and his right arm to crawl/scoot somewhere. He is getting pretty fast.

Rolling Over!!

Today Daniel decided to roll over from his stomach to his back. I knew that he was close to doing it, but he suprised me when he did. I had just put him down to get some belly time and he did it, he rolled over. I was shocked. Dh was not watching so we decided to see if he would do it again and he did. My little boy is growing up.

First Time Slept in Crib all Night!

Well, Daniel slept in his crib the whole night last night. Now you would thing that would be great for Dave and I. Well it would of been if we were not worrying that he was going to sufficate himself. He has not slept in the crib since. We will start putting him back in the crib this week, but I need to get the bumper out and big pooh out of his crib. He is such a mover that he went from the top of his crib all the way to the bottom of the crib during the night and was sleeping next to Pooh. He must feel so constricted in his bassinett.

Everything in the mouth and what a grip he has!!

My little man now likes to suck on what he can get in his mouth, his hand being his favorite. We now know when he is getting hungry as he tries to shove his fist into his mouth to suck on it. If that does not work he moves on to his arm.

He also now likes to suck on my arm, my shoulder, and my shirt. Leaving his drool for me. He also likes to suck on his shirts if there are in reach, oh basically anything that will get in his mouth. What is with this new fascination. I mean he has left his mark on pooh with his drool, and even his favorite bear rattle. He also seems to have more saliva going on at times.

Boy what a grip he has. Sometimes when I try to put him down he will hold onto my shirt and my hair with all his might. Let me tell you the feeling of having your hair ripped out of your head is not great. Dave can tell you all about that as Daniel loves to grab his chest hair.

Increasing feedings, growing out of clothes

My little boy is growing up. He is now moved passed taking four ounces. He is now taking 4.5 ounces. I remember the days where we could barely get him to take 2 ounces. My little piggie. Now I go do you want your ba ba and he gets all excited. I think he will definitely be ready for rice soon. It is so cute that at times he is watching us eat and seems to be saying let me try that.

It is hard for me to believe that my little boy could out grow any clothes, since he fit in nothing when he was born. However, he has grown out of a couple outfits and a pj. How sad that my baby is growing up. I mean he is no longer in the newborn diapers either, we had to upgrade those to 1's. They are a little big on him, but fit so much better than the Newborns.

One Tired Baby!!

On Thursday, my sweet little boy was a nightmare. He absolutely refused to sleep. My mom usually comes over to help watch him so I can work. Well, as soon as she would put him down he would jsut fuss and scream. I think the longest stretch he had was about 10 minutes while she was here. When she left Dave took over watching him, but all Daniel wanted to do was scream. Well, mommy to the rescuce - well kind of. I held him and walked around with him and then I rocked him. He went to sleep, but I needed to put him down. I put him down on the couch next to Dave where he slept for like maybe 5 minutes. Dave then put him into the swing, but that did not work much better. Finally, I gave him a bath and then he got fed. After about 15 minutes he passed out on Dave's chest. He stayed that way for about an hour, until we went up to bed. Well, we put him in his bassinett and after about 10 minutes he was up fussing. He was hugry, so we fed him and he finally fell asleep an dslep until 5:30. I fed him and then he went back to sleep until 8:30.

The next day I found the source of his problem, he had his first semi-solid bowel movement. The poor thing must have been in pain. On Friday, the poor baby was so tired, that he slept next to me on the couch for three hours straight in the morning. This is not normal for Daniel, but he was so tired. I finally had to wake him up as it had been five hours since he ate and he had only taken two ozs, so he needed to eat. He is doing better now and back to naping.

10-11 weeks

Daniel is growing up a little more each day. He is doing pretty good at keeping his head up. He is now not keeping his fists clenched. He loves his Baby Einstein play mat. Who knew a star with lights could be so interesting. He will just stare at it and kick his legs and scream out in delight. He also loves rattles and the noises that they make. He also loves all the silly noises that Dave and I make. The smile he gets on his face is so adorable.

The poor thing though gets so frustrated when he is on his tummy and he tries to roll over. It is actually quite cute as he is picking up his left leg, but then picks up his right arm. No way he is going to roll over doing that. That is alright though I know he will get it eventually.

He also has very strong legs as he loves to push off with them. Crazy boy, I do not know where he thinks he is going.

2 month appointment!!

Today was Daniel's 2 month appointment. He weighed 9lbs 7ozs and is 22 inches long. His head circumferance is 38 inches. His weight and height is proportional. His weight is still on the low end for a 2 month old, but he is on tract for a one month old (his corrected age). The doctor said he is doing great, so that makes me happy. He is hitting all his milestones for a two month old. The PKU test came back normal.

We of course had to fight about delaying his vaccinations. We want to delay his vaccinations until he is a little bigger. We are trying to ensure that he does not have a reaction. I know that noone can ensure that, but we are going to do all that we can. We are refusing to give him his Hepatitis B vaccine until he is much older.

9 weeks today!!

Daniel is changing every week. Today my mom came by to watch him while I worked. He was being a major fuss bucket, but she found it cute. Only a grandma could find his crying cute. His facial expressions are cute, but the constant crying is not as cute. He has been a little more fussy the past couple of days. He loves to look at his bear mobile. He is so goofy, he loves it when you make sounds with your lips and mouth. He just gets a really big smile. When he looks at his bear mobile he just kicks and kicks. The poor thing gets so frustrated that he cannot role over. It is so cute. He will get the bottom half starting to go over, but the top half does nothing. Then he will get the top half going, but the bottom is not. He then does what I call his Superman move, where he gets his legs way up in the air like he is flying. I really need to get a picture of that. Also, he likes to sleep in the bed with me when Dave leaves. I am enjoying the time that he wants to cuddle with me, as I know that will not be the case later.

8 weeks today!!

Today Daniel is eight weeks old. Fitting that he does something new today. He had his first blow out diaper today. He was a mess. Had to give a bath, which he enjoys anyway. Maybe it was his way of getting a bath. I doubt it though because who would want poo all over them. He is definitley grabbing things that are around him. I was taking him out of his bouncy seat the other day and he grap hold of one of the dangling toys that is attached to a mobile like thing (I will have to post a picture so you understand). I felt like I almost pulled his arm out of the socket because he grabbed hold so hard. He also loves to exercise those little legs of his. He will just kick and kick. He especially does this on his changing table while staring at his bear mobile or when he is on his play mat. He is trying his best to push up on his arms/hands when he is on his belly. It is so cute because he gets so frustrated when he tries to turn over but cannot. He gets into what I call the superman position becuase he lifts his legs and groin area off the ground and ends up pushing his face into the mat. Poor thing he gets so frustrated when this happens. He also gets frustrated when he sort of gets started in the right direction to turn over but then goes right back to where he was. The trials and tribulations of being eight weeks old. He is getting his first trip to the beach this weekend.

7 weeks today!!

Boy how much his personality changes in a week. He is starting to show what type of personality he will have. He will sit on his changing table on his pack and play and just stare at the bears forever. He smiles and kicks his little legs. It is just so amazing. He is starting to use his baby talk more. It is so cute when he does that. He has laughed now for me several times. It just melts my heart to see his smile and laugh. He is not starting to grasp things, like mommy's hair, daddy's chest hair, his burp rag, mommy's shirt. Stuff like that. That little boy has a grip let me tell you.

He so loves to be cuddled and have his head rubbed. He loves to sleep with me in my bed in the morning once Dave has left. This really is the only time I would consider him sleeping in the bed, as otherwise there just is not enough room.

I will try to keep up with this better, but things have been so hectic.

6 weeks today!!

It is hard to believe that Daniel is 6 weeks today. Technically if you use his corrected age he is only 2 weeks. It is so amazing to see how much he has changed from that little baby that we brought home that only slept and ate, who really did not do that much interacting with you. Boy how things change in six weeks. Now he is awake after his morning feeding and ready to play with you and show you that big smile of his. He just loves to watch you and stare at you. He is making his baby garble sounds that are so cute.

Grandma time!!

Every Thursday Daniel's my mom (grandma H) comes to visit and watch Daniel so I get some work done. I work from home. It is Daniel and grandma time. She sings to him, plays with him and reads to him. She spends a lot of time holding him and comforting him. It is great for Daniel and me.

Holds head up for a second!

Another smile milestone that he has hit is that he is holding his head up for a little bit while sitting up with assistance of course.

First Smile!!

He had his first smile today. His first true smile. Not a smile in his sleep or a gas smile, but a smile. It is so cute to see his gummy sime.

2 week doctor's appointment!!

Today he had his two week check-up. Of course he peed on the nurse again. I think that is his favorite past-time at the doctor's office. Today he weighed 6lbs 1 oz, so he is gaining weight. I am happy about that. He is now 19 3/4 inches long.

He had to do his PKU test again today. O.K. I was about to cry with him. What a horrible test. I mean they prick the poor babies heel and then they keep pusing his heel and foot together to get blood to come out to fill these four dots. It looked so darn painful. I could not help put cry with him. I was like geez, there has got to be a better way to do this. He was crying so loudly. Poor thing.

Umbilical cord fell off!!

I could not believe that his umbilical cord fell off today. It fell off real quickly.

Clothes Problem

Well, the main problem with having such a small baby is that no clothes fit. I mean the outfit we brought him home in was just hudge. Even some of the onesies were too big. He pretty much lived in onesies, as nothing else fit. We went to Babies R Us to find him some more clothes and buy him some smaller onesies. Now we picked up some onesies for 5-9 lb babies, so you would think that they would fit Daniel. Well, sure they would if he had a neck twice his size and his belly was hudge. We were able to find a couple cute outfits that fit on him length wise, but girth wise they were hudge. I mean you could fit two of him in there. I know in a little bit he will start outgrowing clothes and I will start saying where did my baby go.
