Peed on the Potty!!

Today Daniel peed on the potty all by himself. I was getting his bath ready. Daniel had already taken off his pants and diaper. I heard him in the bathroom and I thought he was getting in trouble, but he came out and said pee-pee. I went into the bathroom and looked in his potty and he did go pee-pee all by himself without any prompting from me. I was so proud of him. At this point I do not know if he is truly ready for potty training as he will only be 22 months old soon, but we will see if he shows more interest in the next couple of days.

What is Daniel Up to?

Daniel has changed so much over the past couple of months. He has had pink eye in both eyes, poor little guy. He is now better from that. He is growing so fast. He is getting so tall and his feet are big. He is now in a size 8 shoe. He was just in a size 6. He was in a size 7 for like a month. Oh, well, I guess we will just be spending money on shoes, since he does not grow out of clothes that quickly.

Daniel now can open doors. He can open everydoor except for the front door. He can even open our sliding glass door, which I wish he could not do. He can now turn the faucets on in the bathroom sink. He can take off all his clothes by himself. He can put on his pants all by himself, he can put his shirt on by himself sometimes. He is doing pretty good at using his utencils to eat. He just tried using a spoon to eat soup and did a pretty good job.

In the morning the first thing he does when we come downstairs is go to the refrigerator and say juice, juice for his apple juice. If we are having pancakes or waffles he will go in the cabinet to get the pancake syrup.

He can help take the dishes out of the dishwasher. He helpe me feed the dog. He will pour the dry food into the bowl and then get a spoon for me so I can mix the moist food with the dry. He then takes the bowl of food to the dog for him to eat. Also, when the dogs water bowl is empty he will get it and give it to me to put water in it.

He loves books so much. We must read or look at at least ten books a day. He has to have them with him in the crib when he takes his nap and when he goes to bed. We usually have to take one or two when we leave the house. He can pick out and say what a lot of the animals are in the book. He can also pick out alot of the other things in his picture books. We are working on his colors, but he is not doing that well with them. He is starting to pick up knowing what some colors are, but not that many. He knows how to turn the TV on using the remotes. I know great skill there.

He also has a love for the keys to the mini-van. He always goes keys, keys to get them. On the subject of talking he is doing pretty well there. He is saying a lot of words now. He is saying to many for me to list. It is so cute that whenever he sees Elmo he says Elmo. He also just starting saying Dora when he sees Dora (funny as we really do not watch Dora and he only has one Dora book). The way he says please is so cute as it ends up sounding more liking he is hissing. He has been saying I love you for the past couple of months, but he says it so cute as he says I "ove" you and then rambles something else after that, that we have no clue what he is saying.

When we are getting ready to go, he will go to the closet and get my shoes and Dave's shoes. Well, he is doing so much more that I could go on and on and on, but that would be way to long.

Third Time the Charm!!

Well, I guess the third time is the charm. Today we took Daniel for a way overdue hair cute. We have been avoiding it as the previous two times have let to crying fits and him looking traumatized after each haircut. Today he did great. He did not cry or move that much. I was so happy that he did so well. Maybe now I do not have to worry so much about taking him to get a haircut. He looks like such a little man with his new hair cut. I guess he really is growing up. I will have to post some pictures when I take them.

Loves Books!!

Daniel loves books. Now when most kids have a blanket or stuffed animal or something like that, that they call their binkie, Daniel has books. I knew he loved books when starting around 16 months or so he would always bring us books for us to read. Starting recently now he has to take a book with him everywhere we go and he has to have at least two to three books in the crib with him when he sleeps. For ahwile there one Clifford book he had was his favorite book and we had to read it to him 3-4 times a day. He does have his favorite books though. I loved books when I was his age as well, so I guess he got it for me. I am happy that he loves to look at books and have us read to him.

Pictures from Christmas!!

Now I was so excited for Christmas this year, as I knew that Daniel would be able to open his gifts this year. On Christmas Eve we did the whole leaving cookies for Santa. We let him pick out the cookies and put them on the plate. It was so cute as he picked out exactly four and said that was plenty.

This is a picture from when he first woke up and saw his stockings. It was so cute, he got a big small on his face and looked at us like are these for me. The dog of course had to be in the middle of the action.

Here he is looking at the play tool bench and tools my mother got him. He loves to play with tools. He loves to run around with his play drill.

Here he is opening one of his gifts.

Here is the gift that his grandparents got him. It is a whole tunnel/cube system. He loves it, but it takes up our entire basement as you can see it is hudge. He really loves the ball pit (the tall cube in the back).

Here he is playing with his new vacumn. It was like he was trying to clean up the mess. He loves to help me vacumn and he loves his doggie vacumn as it barks when he uses it.

Christmas went great, but it took forever for us to open all the gifts as everytime Daniel opened a gift we had to take it out of the box. Now any parent knows that to get any child's gift out of a box involves untwisting five million ties and removing ten pounds of tape. So needless to say it took us ahwile. Daniel had a great Christmas and that is what matters.

Christmas Family Pictures!!

Here is a cute picture of Daniel from our Christmas pictures. I love the look he had on his face. He was such a great little poser for all his pictures. Such a change from the would not sit still child from a year ago: Her is a family picture:

20 Months Old!!

So what is Daniel doing at 20 months. He is starting to get more and more interest in the toilet. Well, he should definitely know what it is used for since he thinks that I need help going to the bathroom and needs to be in the bathroom with me everytime I go. Yesterday he actually told me he had to go potty, so when I asked him if he needed to go he was trying to quickly pull down his pants. I got him on the potty and he went on the potty. He got to flush the toilet and he was so proud of himself. We are not potty training him yet, as we are waiting until he seems that he is truly interested in it.

He is my little helper and he loves to help me mop the floor. Also, he has this thing about dirt being on the kitchen floor. If there is a big piece of dirt on the floor he will uh-oh, uh-oh until I pick it up. He loves to help get the dogs food ready and then he will carry the food to the dog. He will help me bake cookies.

He will tell on the dog if the dog takes something he should't. It was so funny one day he just kept saying dog, dog. I was like yeah he is in the othe room. Well, he kept going on and on, so I went to look and of course the dog had one of his toys.

He is usually good about picking up his toys if asked, well that is except for his blocks. For some reason he hates picking them up. He usually listens very well, but he is a typical toddler and gets into a lot of trouble.

He loves, loves books and always wants you to read to him. I am very happy about this.

He has these two big dog stuffed animals that he loves and just recently has started to want to make sure that they are in the room he is.

He loves baths. We are working on his colors. The one color he defintely knows is blue. He is getting better and better about putting the items back into the shape sorter.

When you ask him how old he is her puts up his index finger to represent that he is one.

He has a interest in the sky at night now and loves to look at the stars.

He has changed so much over the past couple of months.

Favorite Toy

My mom got this for him a couple weeks ago and he absolutely loves it. Doesn't he look so grown up in this picture.

My mom had gotten this for him because he loves to jump in the mini-van and get in the driver's seat and pretends to drive. He is in this car at least 10 times a day and loves for you to push him around.

Halloween!!

This is the first year that Daniel got to go trick or treating. He was Pooh. I was wondering how well he would do with it. We decided to go trick or treating in my mom's neighborhood, so she could see Daniel all dressed up. At first he did not want to keep the hood part of his costume on, but then he became so excited over the belly part of his costume. He would just keep pushing on it and smiling. The first house we let him trick or treat at was grandma's house. It was so cute, as he went up the door and we told him to knock he lightly tapped the door. Then grandma came out with a bowl of candy. He was so polite in that he took one and then put it in his pumpkin. He then looked at us to see if he could take another one and when we said yet, he did.

He was so excited to go outside and trick or treat he was trying to open the door himself:

Her he is walking to a house with Dave:
Here he is trick or treating at a house. I look huge in this picture. I guess that is why I am now on a diet.

Here Daniel is already eating some of his candy. He loves kit-kats.
Here is another picture of Daniel in his costume:

He did a great job and he would take one candy at a time. It was so cute as you could see him searching with his eyes the bowls of candy and he would take what he really liked.

What's New!

Lately Daniel has been such a good boy. He tries to clean up as best he can. Sometimes it takes me by suprise when he is putting his stuff away or when he takes the trash after I have gone through the mail and puts it in the trash.

He loves to go out with mommy to get the mail. He knows what key makes the mailbox open. He has to go out with me every day to get the mail. On the same note he loves keys, especially the mini-van key. The problem is that he keeps touching all the buttons and opens all the doors and back hatch. So he is no longer allowed to hold this key.

He now also loves to feed the dog. He will put the dogs dry food in the bowl. Once I have mixed the moist food with it he will carry it outside to feed the dog. It is so cute.

Daniel loves to be outside. He is always going out, out. Sometimes he has to understand that he can not always go out. Usually he will have a one minute tantrum and then if you get his attention to something else he will forget about it.

He is such a helper. He loves to help vacumm, sweep, mop, and clean the windows. He is my little helper.

His new trick is to climb up the shelves in the all closet to get into the cleaning products. We have moved them to the closet to keep them away from Daniel, but now he has figured out that if he pulls down the towels and makes a mound he can easily crawl up the shelves to what he wants.

Pumpkin Patch!!

We went to the pumpkin patch this past Saturday. Daniel had a great time running around and looking at everything. His favorite thing was to pick up rocks from the gravel. He would give me a couple and then want me to hold them for him. Here are some pictures.

Here is a picture of him sitting in a chair carved out of a old tree.

He loved sitting on this tractor. He loves to pretend he is driving a car and loves to try to jump in the front seat of the mini-van if he can.
Here he was sitting with a bunch of pumpkins. I was kind of disappointed that they did not have any big pumpkins. He loved that he could pick out what pumpkins he wanted.
He was so happy to be allowed to pick up a pumpkin. He was carrying it so proudly, well until it got to heavy for him to carry.
Here is a picture of him picking up a leaf, holding on to another pumpkin that he wanted.

18 Month Pooh Picture!!

It has been 6 months since I have taken Daniel's picture with Pooh. Here is Daniel's picture with Pooh at 18 months. He looks so grown up.

I am amazed at how much he has grown compared to this 12 month picture with Pooh.
And he has grown so much from his one month Pooh picture. It is amazing to see the change.

Trip to Florida!!

We went down to Florida to suprise Dave's father for his 60th bithday. We had a great time. Here are some pictures:

Here is a picture of me and Daniel lounging in the pool. He was getting tired at this point.

Here is a picture of Daniel in the little desk they have at there house. He loved climbing in it.

Here he is in the pool with his grandpa. Daniel loves the pool so much, that when we first got there he saw the pool and just kept saying out, out, because he wanted to go into the pool.
Here he is in his raft. He is definitely a water baby.
Another picture in the pool.
Here is one of him climbing out of the pool. He has so much fun climbing up and down the steps of the pool and then throwing the rafts back into the pool after you put them out.
Here is three generations of the men. Dave and Daniel helping grandpa blow out his candles.

18 month appointment

I took Daniel for his 18 month appointment on October 2nd. I put him on the table to get weighed and he just started screaming and screaming and did not finish until I picked him up when they were done measuring him. He weighs 21lbs and is 32 inches tall. So he still is my little peanut. His weight dropped from the 5th percentile to the 3rd, but he is growning fine and meeting all his milestones, so no need to worry. He is doing great.

Put his Pants On!!

Today Daniel put his pants on all by himself. Well, with some help from mom to get it up over his butt. Usually, he has a terrible time trying to put his pants on, but today he put one leg in and then the other and then started to pull them up. What happened to my little baby. He has grown up so much.

New Pictures of Daniel!!

Here are some new pictures of Daniel:

This is one of him licking the beater after I made some icing. He loves icing, just like his mommy. He even eats a cupcake like I do. He will eat the icing off the top and then the cupcake (well I usually eat some of the icing then the rest of the icing and cupcake).

Here is he is sitting on his doggie. He loves to do this, but thankfully he does not do it that often as I know that dog does not like it a whole lot.

He looks so adorable. Looks like he is sleeping, but he is not, just laying on the floor.

Here he is wearing an apron, as he was going to help mommy in the kitchen. He loves helping.

This is during one of his tantrums, as he wanted me to pick him up. Eating spagetti outside. He makes such a mess while eating it. Geez he looks so grown up in this picture.
I just loved the look he has in the picture.
O.K. this is not a picture of Daniel, but a couple of pictures of cupcakes I made for Daniel.
Here is a picture of him with the doggie. He loves his dog so much.

What Daniel is Up To!!

I thought for this update of what Daniel can do. He has grown up so much.

  • He can wash his hair, as long as I put some of the soap in his hand. he can also wash his belly as long as I put some soap in his hand. I do not let him get the soap out of the bottle himself as I know he would just get more and more soap out of the bottle then is needed. He is also learning how to wash his arm's.

  • He is learning how to eat with a spoon and a fork. He is getting so much better with the spoon. He can almost eat a whole bowl of oatmeal by himself using the spoon. Dave use to get so upset when I would give Daniel a spoon or fork to try to eat his food, as he would make such a mess, but I had a method to my madness. Afterall how is he suppose to learn.
  • His new trick is taking off his diaper at bath time. The other day I turned around and he was there butt naked. He did it for Dave the other night.
  • He tries to put away Dave's tools that he pools out.
  • He can now pull the blinds down with the cords.
  • He says the following words: arm, duck, "ack" (vacumn), hot, good night, up, do it, da da, out, go, dog (favorite word), cat, wash, brush, yes, no, drink, want, snack, "ouch" (for touch), "bupcake" (cupcake), wash, get it, "sawberry" (strawberry), "ash" (trash), wash, good night and there are others.
  • He knows how to take his pants off. Not happy that he has learned this.
  • Learned how to push chairs around to climb onto what he wants to.
  • Knows how to dispense cold water out of the water dispenses. Why we now have it blocked off.
  • Knows where the DVD's go. He takes them out of their containers and then tries to put them into the DVD player.
  • Knows how to be a VHS into the machine. Yes, we still have one of those.
  • He remembers where all the dogs live at in our neighborhood, so when we go for our walk, he has to try to go and visit everyone of them.
  • He knows where most of his body parts are, but for some reason his nose he never can say where that is, but he knows where mine is, as he will grab for it and it feels like he is trying to rip it off.
  • He tries to comb his own hair.
  • Brush his teeth - well as good as a 17 month old can.
  • He will try to brush my hair, but it is more like beating me with the brush.
  • He will clean his highchair table if you give him a cloth.
  • He will put water in his sippy cup from the water vender machine if you let him.
  • He also loves to mimic the sound of a fire truck of ambulance or police car when he hears them.

There is so much more he is doing that it is impossible to put it all in here.

Daniel went potty in the toilet sort of...

Tonight Daniel went potty in the toilet sort of..... He was taking his bath and he was making the tail tail signs that he was working on going poo poo (oh boy I am around Daniel too much), anyway I decided to take him out and put him on the potty so I would not have to clean up the mess out of the tub. Well, as soon as I put him on there he went poo poo. Believe me he did not like being on the toilet too much, but he seemed like he felt he accomplished something. I am sure when it does come time for potty training he will want nothing to do with the toilet.
